( ANF /Gray News) - Americans traveling through some of the U.S.’s busiest airports can expect fewer flights as the country’s longest government shutdown continues into its second month.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced the 40 “high-volume markets” where it is reducing flights by 10 percent . The cuts go into effect Friday.

According to the Associated Press, the FAA said the move is to keep airspace safe during the shutdown.

Among the airports on the list were Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International, Dallas/Fort Worth International, New York LaGuardia and Chicago O’Hare International.
