LAKE ORION, MI - A $31 million project will transform the former Lake Orion High School into new housing and community space, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Thursday, Nov. 6.

The redevelopment, called the Flats and Lofts at West Village, will create 89 residential units and an event space in the village’s historic 1927 school building.

The project is supported by a $1.5 million grant through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) program, which helps bridge funding gaps for infrastructure and redevelopment projects.
