PORTLAND, Maine — Travelers flying in and out of Portland International Jetport may soon face cancellations and delays as the Federal Aviation Administration reduces flights at 40 busy U.S. airports to ensure safety during the ongoing government shutdown.
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy announced Wednesday that the FAA plans to implement a 10% reduction in airline schedules at high-volume markets beginning Friday, Nov. 7.
Portland International Jetport officials are warning of the impacts this will have on flights to and from Portland.
"We anticipate a significant number of cancellations tied to this initiative. Customers are encouraged to check their flight status before leaving for the airport," the jetport said in a statement on its website . "Any flights on Friday,
