If you can find a place without cloud cover on Thursday night in the northern half of the United States of America, you might have a chance to spot the auroras.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Center , a strong “G3″ geomagnetic storm is bringing an eruption of charged particles and magnetic fields from the sun to Earth, which could mean aurora views in 22 states, including Oregon.
The lights could even be visible in Portland, though it’s likely to be cloudy on Thursday night .
Still, if the clouds part, sky-watchers could see the auroras in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Ne
