Former Jets wide receiver Laveranues Coles has a new job.
The 10-year NFL veteran has completed the police academy and is now working in the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
“This job allows me to feel like I’m a part of something greater than myself, like I was when I was in the NFL,” Coles told Kathy Park of NBC News .
According to Pro Football Talk , Coles made more than $47 million in his NFL career.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office now employs nine former NFL players.
Coles was selected by the Jets in the third round of the 2000 NFL Draft and spent three seasons with New York before signing with Washington. Two seasons later, he returned to the Jets, where he spent another four years. He played his final NFL season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009.
