DENVER, Colo. (KKTV) - Attorney General Phil Weiser announced Thursday that his office will invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in Colorado’s food security system.
According to Weiser’s office, Dollar General agreed to pay a $400,000 settlement after allegations that the company was overcharging customers.
The Attorney General’s office will reportedly direct that settlement money to the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) to fund improvements in refrigeration and food storage, as well as support volunteer networks across CDHS’s statewide system of food banks and pantries.
“During my visits to food banks and pantries, I’ve heard about one issue that doesn’t get enough attention, and that is keeping food fresh for those served,” Weiser said Thursday.
