Films have the power to bring to life some of the most inspiring and interesting stories known to man. Such is the story behind the film Remember The Titans. Directed by Boaz Yakin, Remember The Titans was based on the real-life story of coach Herman Boone and the football team of TC Williams High School. While some elements are fictionalized for the film, it highlights what Boone achieved amid the racial tensions of the early 1970s.
Boone was a high school football coach who started his teaching career in 1958. After leading his first team to several championships, he returned to his home state of North Carolina. In 1969, he was appointed the assistant head coach at TC Williams High School. During the same time, schools in Virginia were being integrated, which meant no separate schools
