Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker announced today that 12 organizations were awarded grants totaling more than $1 million from the city’s share of the national opioid settlement funds.

Tucker said the organizations that received grant funding showed in their applications they can help provide relief and education to families impacted by opioid addiction and recovery opportunities.

“What many people don’t realize is that it impacts more than just the person that is addicted,” she said. “It’s the parent. It’s the children. It’s the family. So, we want to be able to provide education to all of those families, opportunities for counseling to the families and opportunity for recovery care.”
