NEW HAVEN – The East Allen County Schools construction projects now include $4.2 million more in improvements – such as new parking lots and gym bleachers – following the board's approval this week of alternate bids.
Together, the four projects are expected to cost about $157 million, according to construction totals provided to the board.
The district is building a fieldhouse at Leo Junior-Senior High School along with two schools, Leo Intermediate and Southwick Elementary. It is also renovating the campus shared by Paul Harding Junior High and East Allen University.
The district waited to award alternate bids until after the projects' base bids were approved. This strategy ensured they remained within budget.
