GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A former Corewell Health employee was sentenced Wednesday to probation and hit with a hefty restitution order for stealing medical bone grafts from the health care giant’s Walker warehouse.
Stephen Jacobsen of Allendale pleaded guilty in September to embezzlement over $50,000 but under $100,000, a step down from the original charge.
A judge on Wednesday placed Jacobsen on probation for three years and ordered that he pay $2.4 million in restitution, according to Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker.
Jacobsen, 40, was captured on video surveillance taking bone grafts and other supplies and loading them into a pickup truck, according to a police report.
Jacobsen was a longtime employee of the warehouse.
Walker police said he admitted to stealing — and selling
