SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - Windows were blown out and a fire ignited, but no major injuries were reported after an explosion on Thursday, Nov. 6. An explosion, officials believe, was connected to a pesticide product.

At around noon, officials got a call about a fire or possible explosion at a home in South Sioux City, Nebraska. When first responders got to 323 E 22nd Street, they found a home with the windows blown out and a small fire in the kitchen.

South Sioux City Fire Chief Doug Koopman says they were able to put the kitchen fire out and confirmed that there had been an explosion.

Officials told KTIV that the explosion’s cause is linked to “roach bombs,” a pesticide product that releases chemicals to kill pests inside homes.
