The redevelopment of a public housing complex in Worcester received a $2 million boost from the Commonwealth.
The third phase of the Lakeside Apartment redevelopment project was awarded $2 million in funding from the Community One Stop For Growth program , the Worcester Housing Authority announced Thursday.
The program helps streamline the process for communities to apply for development grants, according to its website .
Overseen by the Worcester Housing Authority, the redevelopment seeks to demolish the 202 units of public housing at Lakeside Avenue and build a new complex with 360 units.
The project consists of four phases in total. The first phase of construction is estimated to be completed in August 2027.
The funding will go towards the project’s third phase, where 65 unit
