US President Donald Trump on Thursday said his talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi were "going very well" and that he plans to visit India next year as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen trade relations between the two nations.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump called Modi a great friend, signalling optimism over the continuing trade negotiations aimed at reducing tariffs and expanding market access.
"He’s a friend of mine and we speak, and he wants me to go there," Trump said. "We’ll figure that out. I’ll go. Great trip there with the private sector. PM Modi is a great man. I’ll be going next year."
He also claimed India will stop buying oil from Russia.
