GRAND BLANC, MI – Grand Blanc football coach Logan Welch was the man killed in a workplace shooting in Almont on Nov. 5, Almont Police Chief Daniel Willis confirmed.
Welch was allegedly shot by a 32-year-old Columbus man at Trims Unlimited , 3863 Van Dyke Road, in Lapeer County on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Welch was employed by Trims Unlimited. It is unclear if the suspect also worked there.
Police chased the suspect and stopped him at Sutton Road near Wilder Road, where Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies shot the suspect multiple times, according to a Michigan State Police news release. The suspect was taken to an area hospital.
