LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan State University's James Madison College, which specializes in public and international affairs, has received a $1.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to launch a civil education academy.
MSU reports that the three-year grant will fund the James Madison College Academy for Civic Education (ACE), which will offer "intensive seminars built around primary sources like the U.S. Constitution, Federalist Papers, works that inspired America’s founding principles and pivotal speeches that have shaped American democracy."
The James Madison College is among 85 institutions nationwide to receive a grant through the American History and Civics-National Activities program.
