If the Trump administration follows through with its directive to airlines as expected, travelers through Detroit Metro Airport can likely expect upwards of 10% of the flights to be canceled beginning Friday, Nov. 7.
Maybe.
The Federal Aviation Administration hasn't said much, if anything, publicly since U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced Wednesday, Nov. 5, that flight cancellations would begin due to the ongoing federal shutdown and the pressure that's been brought on air traffic controllers who are working without pay. And while reports from several media outlets have included Detroit on a preliminary list of 40 major U.S. airports to be affected once the cancellations begin, no official word has come from FAA to airport officials as of midday Thursday, Nov. 6.
