The Blue Jays have picked up manager John Schneider's contract option for the 2026 season and are in talks for a possible extension, general manager Ross Atkins said on Thursday.

Schneider was hired as Toronto's full-time manager following the 2022 season. He was on a three-year contract through 2025 with a club option for a fourth year in 2026.

Schneider led the Blue Jays to a 94-68 record and the American League East title this season, the team's first division title since 2015. Toronto then won the American League pennant -- the Jays' first pennant since 1993 -- and came just one win short of a World Series championship, falling to the Dodgers in Game 7 of the Fall Classic .

Schneider is one of the three finalists for the 2025 AL Manager of the Year Award.
