The has been a major update after an NHS trust declared a critical incident.

The critical incident has been stood down by Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) Trust. It was declared after 24 ambulances were left waiting outside A&E.

The trust said operational performance had improved and that its new operational patient record system, which had issues, was now working. The NUH declared the critical incident on Tuesday as a result of "sustained pressures across the Trust and in particular the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) Emergency Department (ED)."

In a statement, it said this was caused by "a prolonged period of sustained demand, challenges around staffing, flow and discharge in the organisation" which resulted in "significant waits in ED and admissions to wards".
