JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Sidewalk dining might be coming to Downtown Jacksonville.

On Oct. 13, Jacksonville City Councilman Raul Arias filed an ordinance that would allow downtown restaurants to have sidewalk dining.

As of Thursday, Nov. 6, the ordinance is on its third reading, as the city council's Neighborhoods and C well as the Rule Committee have approved the legislation with unanimous votes. The ordinance will next be taken up by city council at their Nov. 12 meeting.

The ordinance would extend through Jacksonville's Brooklyn area, and would require all sidewalk dining to conform with traffic and pedestrian safety regulations.
