Just minutes before a jury returned a not guilty verdict for Sean Dunn's, the famed Sandwich Guy accused of assault for throwing a sandwich at a Customs and Border Patrol agent, never Trump lawyer George Conway debuted a tribute song.
Conway, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, contributed his own voice to the trial that has captured the attention of sandwich aficionados around the country.
Conway, the former spouse of a top Trump ally, cooked up the jam this week after testimony from the CPB officer who claimed that the assault left him covered with mustard and onions.
On the stand, the officer alleged that the sandwich ended up all over him, making his uniform smell bad. Dunn's lawyers, however, showed video of the incident that revealed the wrapped footlong remained intact, wrapped and taped.
Conway took the testimony and ran with it.
"I threw the sandwich, but I did not throw the condiments
I threw the sandwich, but I didn't throw the condiments
All around Washington D.C.
They're trying to track me down
They say they want to bring me in guilty
For the spilling of some mayonnaise
For wasting all the dijon, but I say
I threw the sandwich, but I swear it had bad provolone
I threw the sandwich, and they say it is a capicola offense
Judge Pirro always hated me
Because she thought I stole her wine
Every time I poured a glass
She said, give me that, it's mine
She said, all of that wine is mine
And I say
I threw the sandwich, but I did not throw the condiments, oh no
I threw the sandwich, but I didn't throw the condiments, oh no"
Okay, so I did it. In honor of Sandwich Guy, on what should be the last day of his trial, I figured out the chords. And so, with apologies to the late and great Bob Marley, I banged out this quick and (very) rough rendition of "I Threw the Sandwich." 🤣
