SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- San Diego International Airport (SAN) is preparing for potential flight reductions as part of a nationwide order from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in response to the ongoing government shutdown.
Starting Friday, SAN will be among 40 major U.S. airports whose flight schedules cold be cut by up to 10%, according to a statement released by the airport.
“Passengers are strongly encouraged to check their flight status before coming to the airport, and plan to arrive no less than two hours before their flight,” said Larisa Casillas, a communication specialist with the airport.
The FAA's decision comes as staffing shortages and reduced federal operations continues to impact the aviation sector during the shutdown, which has now surpassed 36 days — making
