The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is beginning a temporary reduction in flights across 40 major airport. Fortunately, Yakima and Tri-Cities airports are safe. However, it may affect travel to affected airports including Sea-Tac for Yakima as well as Salt Lake City, and Denver if you're flying out of Tri-Cities.

These airport delays from the FAA come as a direct result of the government shutdown.
According to CNBC , they could be reducing flights as much as 10% which covers about 3,750 flights daily.
They go on to say air traffic controllers haven't been paid since October 1 when the shutdown began.
In the northwest, the airports included on this list are Sea-Tac International Airport as well as Portland International Airpor
