AUSTIN, Texas — The ongoing government shutdown continues to put a growing strain on air travel. The FAA announced Wednesday night that it plans to reduce flight capacity by canceling up to 10% of domestic flights at nearly 40 major airports by this weekend .
The decision to reduce air traffic comes as airports face delays due to staffing shortages.
“Everything's up in the air,” Mark Mitchell, who flew from New Orleans to Austin on Thursday. “You don't know exactly what you're going to get as far as the flights, and if you are going to be on time. It definitely creates a lot of stress.”
Mitchell said he got to the airport about three hours early after seeing stories online about three-hour-long TSA lines in New Orleans. Once he got there, he said he breezed through and was even able
