A Trenton man was killed in a crash while riding a skateboard in Hamilton on Wednesday, Nov. 5, police said.

The crash happened at approximately 5:48 p.m. on South Olden Avenue near Estates Boulevard, according to Hamilton Police Sgt. Robert Gray.

Gino A. Montervino, 31, was riding a non-motorized skateboard in the northbound lane of S. Olden Avenue when he was hit by a 2022 Toyota Camry, police said.

The Camry driver was also traveling northbound and struck Monervino from behind. Investigators said that due to the darkness and the lack of reflective material on Monervino’s clothing, it appeared the driver did not see him until impact.

Monervino was ejected from the skateboard and suffered a serious head injury. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The Hamilton Township Fire Division assisted at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation by Officer M. Mancuso of the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit.

A GoFundMe for Gino's family had raised more than $10,000 as of Wednesday, Dec. 3.
