TOWN OF WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Along outer Coffeen and Arsenal streets, sewer permits can’t be issued because of a capacity problem. And that’s discouraging development - a problem the city and town of Watertown are figuring out.
A proposed Circle K is perhaps the tip of the iceberg when it comes to development challenges on outer Coffeen Street.
The land sits near the entrance of the Jefferson County Industrial Park in the town of Watertown. After waiting for months, the project just received its sewer permit, which means construction can begin.
Jefferson County Economic Development CEO Marshall Weir hopes more permits will come.
“There are issues in developing projects when you can’t get sewer permits,” he said.
