The St. Johns County Public Library System is set to launch the Food for Fines program as a way for library patrons to help families in need.
Each year, the program allows patrons to clear overdue fines while giving back to the community through partnerships with St. Johns County Health and Human Services and Firefighters for Families.
It runs from Sunday, Nov. 9, through Sunday, Dec. 21.
Here’s how to lend a hand: • Donate unexpired, nonperishable food items to reduce overdue fines by $2 per item. All donations support the St. Johns County Health and Human Services Food Pantry. • Make a cash payment toward fines to help purchase bike lights for children and families through Firefighters for Families.
