BANGOR — The Baldacci family donated $2,500 to Bangor-area food pantries Thursday in memory of the late Gerry Baldacci, who unexpectedly passed away earlier this year.
The donation was split between Faith Linking in Action and the Manna Ministries Food Pantry.
Gerry was a longtime chef, and his brother Joe said the family wanted to honor that passion.
Joe said the Baldacci family had planned to make the donations before the SNAP benefits were cut due to the government shutdown but is glad the money is helping families at a time when they need it most.
