HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam and other city officials gathered on Thursday to kick off this year's holiday festivities in Connecticut's capital city.

Officials said they're excited for the city's annual traditions to make their return. Popular holiday events in Hartford include the Winterfair Holiday Market at Union Station, Pratt Street's Winter Village, ice skating in Bushnell Park and live performances at local theatre venues.

"There's so much to do here in the city of Hartford, this is the place to be," Mayor Arulampalam said. "Bring your families, bring your friends, all holiday season long -- starting with Small Business Saturday and going through the first of the year. There is no place to be like the city of Hartford during the holidays."
