GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — It has been 36 days since the federal government shut down.

Since then, federal employees have been working without pay, affecting airports like TVC in Traverse City.

Now, due to the shut down, the Federal Aviation Administration has announced 40 airports nationwide will now have 10% flight reduction, including 2, the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and the Chicago Midway International Airport, that provide connecting flight to TVC.

Cherry Capital Airport CEO Kevin Klein adds that they will be working with passengers as well who are affected.

“The airlines are being proactive in reaching out to those customers, so they’re rebooking and adjusting flight flight loads. But also airlines are also adjusting the types of airplanes they’re using. ” Klein adds
