Mercer County, Pa. - In order to meet urgent local needs, Buhl Regional Health Foundation announced Thursday that it has awarded a $50,000 emergency grant to Mercer County Food Bank. This comes in response to the ongoing government shutdown and the subsequent stoppage of SNAP benefits.

"With thousands more of our neighbors suddenly facing food insecurity due to the SNAP stoppage, this emergency funding will help us ensure that no family in Mercer County goes hungry," Rebecca Page, Executive Director of the Mercer County Food Bank, said.

The foundation said in a statement that the grant, along with continued community support, will help see the food bank through a time of immense need. It will allow food and supplies to be purchased and distributed immediately. The funding is set to prov
