Some local families could not wait until Friday for federal SNAP funds to load in Friday. Some taking extreme measures to stay afloat and fill the gap.

The gap consists of at least 53,000 SNAP recipients, who were not part of the first phase of partial payments.
But many are feeling the force of this financial instability.
Micheal Stoltzfus with Here Today Rotisserie in Uptown said, "We are just figuring out ways we can make it work and help our community."
Thursday the restaurant began offering free meals to SNAP recipients who presented a SNAP card and ID.
