Palm Bay City Councilman Chandler Langevin has sued the city, alleging his freedom of speech is being illegally restricted after social media posts targeting the Indian American community led to calls for his removal.

Anthony Sabatini, Langevin's attorney, said, "There's an entire period of the meeting where he's not allowed to speak, boards he's not allowed to serve on, and there's things that he can't add to the agenda without approval from the rest of the commission."

The city council had previously voted to limit Langevin's actions and speech in his role. The city also sent a formal letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis asking for Langevin's removal from his council position.
