A 15-year-old is facing charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief and attempting to disarm an officer.

"Not only had he attacked and kicked one of our teachers, but then he starts trying to attack our deputy and actually physically tried to take his gun away from him," Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

We are not naming the teenager because of his age.

"We can confirm that a student was arrested from Gardendale Separate Day School. This is a school that serves students in grades K-12 with significant behavioral and emotional challenges who require a more structured, supportive, or specialized environment," Brevard Public Schools Chief Strategic Communications Officer Janet Murnaghan said.
