A Montgomery man has been charged with murder in connection to the death of a Huntsville man missing since July.

On Nov. 5, Huntsville Police located the body of Lazarus Howard III in an area near the 29000 block of Highway 20. Preliminary evidence pointed to Howard being the victim of a homicide; an autopsy will be completed to determine the cause of death.

An anonymous tip led investigators to Kyland James Haley, 19, of Montgomery as a person of interest. After an interview, a murder warrant was issued for Haley.

Howard, 25, was reported missing on July 19 after speaking with his mother on July 10. According to HPD, officers conducted multiple searches of his apartment and obtained warrants and subpoenas to determine his whereabouts.
