NEW YORK, (WBNG) — Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand held a conference on Thursday calling for an end to the government shutdown and an extension of Affordable Health Act tax credits.
Gillibrand said that with open enrollment for benefits now underway, it is a pivotal moment to restore the credits, saying that if these credits are not restored, premium rates are set to skyrocket by over 100%.
“Without enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credits, 20 million Americans are being forced to make agonizing decisions about what health care plans they should choose without subsidies that have made it affordable in the past,” Gillibrand said.
