WEST VIRGINIA (WVNS) - Many residents in the southern region of the state have been rebuilding after flooding early last year. The Department of Highways awarded multiple contracts for repairs to roads impacted by the floods.

Millions of dollars in contract awards will go toward paving, resurfacing, and other repairs to roads in multiple counties. The McDowell County area was the site of significant flood-related damage during the winter months. Locals have said county roadway conditions continue to reflect the impact of the damage. "That whole road is completely washing out as we speak," Joseph Stinson told 59News. "Those guardrails are disintegrating and washing right into the river."
