A strong finish Thursday couldn't overcome a slow start for La Quinta High School golfer Joanna Bushnell Crist.

Bushnell Crist, a senior at La Quinta, saw her high school career end with a 9-over 81 at in the CIF-Southern Section girls golf individual finals at Temecula Creek Inn. The day started poorly for Bushnell Crist with a triple-bogey on the par-3 third hole, her first hole of the day, and she was never able to recover to get into contention for one of the berths into next week's CFI-SCGA championship.
