Shapiro says he fears Trump will try to interfere with 2026 midterm elections

Gov. Josh Shapiro said Thursday that he is concerned President Trump will try to interfere with the 2026 midterm elections.

“Make no mistake, Donald Trump is going to try to undermine our elections,” said Shapiro during an interview on MSNBC’s ”Morning Joe.”

He said Tuesday’s election results that saw a near-universal Democratic sweep from coast to coast, give Democrats solid momentum heading into 2026 when control of Congress will be up for grabs.

“There were two clear messages the American people sent — from gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey and all the way to the county executive race in bellweather Erie County (Pa.) — number one, they want to support candidates who want to make their lives better, actually bring down costs... actually fix issues in their communities.
