DALLAS, Texas — New Texas resident Alexsis Vallee is paying close attention to the ongoing government shutdown and what it could mean for air travel, her quick connection to family back in Iowa.

“I just moved here to Dallas recently, about a month ago,” Alexsis Vallee said. “I depend on these flights to get back and forth because I have two kids back home in Iowa. So it's very important that I get back and forth safely.”

To help maintain safe airspace operations during the shutdown, the FAA has directed airlines to reduce flight schedules at the nation’s busiest airports, including DFW International Airport. Some air traffic controllers have not reported to work due to missed paychecks.
