PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WTNH) -- The Coast Guard rescued five people on a sailboat which began taking water 260 nautical miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina on Thursday.
According to the Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Sector North Carolina Command Center got a distress call from the crew of the Magic Bus, a sailboat which was taking water and all five people aboard were abandoning ship onto the life raft.
The Coast Guard sent a boat crew, an aircraft crew and a helicopter crew to search for the life raft, and the aircraft crew located it with all five people aboard, established communications and determined that all five were stable and in good condition.
