His story gained national attention, with many supporters calling for his release.

"I don't think there was one day that I didn't think of deportation and execution," Soliman told WLWT.

Soliman, who also served as an imam at Clifton Mosque, was detained in a Butler County ICE detention cell.

"I was very stressed out, trying to get used to this life that I never imagined I'd be in one day," he said.

Soliman's journey began in 2014, when he fled Egypt due to persecution by the authorities.

He found purpose in the United States working as a chaplain in health care, a role he described as his life.
