In 1975, 32 men who attended Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Morristown decided to form a Knights of Columbus chapter to help those less fortunate.
Being a member of the Knights of Columbus means a life of faith in action, a life of boldness in brotherhood, and a life worth living by more than two million Catholic men.
Saturday, a 50th Anniversary observance was held at the church with Bishop Mark Beckman, of the Diocese of Knoxville, celebrating mass.
Later, the Knights gathered at Morristown Landing for a celebration complete with a dinner and a retrospect of the chapter’s 50 years.
The chapter was established on November 2, 1975 and was named for Joseph P. Doherty, the chapter’s first Grand Knight. There were 32 charter members of the chapter. The chapter now boasts 125 members.
