Earlier today, the Chicago Bears announced that linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga was activated from injured reserve, while waiving linebacker Carl Jones Jr. in a corresponding move.
Ogbongbemiga has yet to play in a game this year after being placed on IR before the season started with a knee injury. In 2024, his first in Chicago, he played in all 17 games, recording 11 special teams tackles, tying for the team lead.
I’m not saying Chicago’s third phase needs Amen, but through eight games, their punt coverage is allowing 11 yards per return (14th most), and their kickoff coverage has allowed 29 yards per return (3rd most).
The 27-year-old, five-year veteran could also be needed on a defense that may be without starting linebacker T.J. Edwards, who has been nursing a hand and hamstring injur
