SCRANTON, Pa. — We're now officially in the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, as of Wednesday, beating the previous record of a 35-day shutdown in 2019.
The resulting impacts have left government workers without pay and the future of social programs like SNAP up in the air.
"We live in the United States of America; nobody should be hungry. We should all be able to get food somewhere, and sometimes I see money that's wasted on somethings, there's no reason why people should go hungry in this country,” said Joe McCafferty, a Navy veteran from Dunmore.
