HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hopes are high that a lifeguard bit by a shark in waters off Kauai’s North Shore Wednesda y will pull through.
“The doctors are promising a good outcome, but only time could tell,” said the victim’s mom, Rose Keaweamahi-Hoovler.
Chance Swanson, 33, was medivaced to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu after he was bit around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
He’s already undergone two operations to repair damage to his left leg, with doctors addressing a severe laceration on his calf and a fractured tibia.
Swanson was off duty and surfing at an area known as Pine Trees. It’s a location he frequents, according to his family.
His mom described the moment she learned what happened.
