MINNEAPOLIS — In just a matter of days, Minneapolis educators are prepared to go on strike. Dozens of them rallied Thursday at six different locations across the city.
However, the union and district are continuing to negotiate, but it's parents who are now preparing backup plans for childcare and work.
"I do have to juggle things and figure things out," said Shannon Gibney, who has two children in the district.
Gibney also works full-time away from their home.
"I worked really hard, especially as a single mom, to have a community of parent resources that I can call on," said Gibney. "I can text at any time and can be like, I don't have child care for such and such, can we figure this out?"
She's also a member of a new parent group called Minneapolis Families for Public Schools. Gibne
