BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - As the nation enters day 37 of the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history, Congressman Cleo Fields is traveling across Louisiana to address growing concerns about its impact and to share what he believes could help bring it to an end.
During a town hall meeting in Baton Rouge, Fields spoke to residents about the uncertainty surrounding the shutdown and its effects on local families and federal workers.
“This is the first time in my life it’s ever happened. This is the first time in my mom’s life. This is the first time in a lot of people’s lives. We don’t know what’s going to happen or what the fallout will be,” said Emily Zwez, a concerned resident.
