For a seventh time in 14 games so far this season, the Canadiens went to overtime.
After opening the season with five straight wins when playing 3-on-3 OT, the Habs have now lost two straight after regulation, falling 4-3 to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night at Prudential Center.
Timo Meier tied it up for the home team with 1:07 remaining in the third, and Jesper Bratt beat Habs netminder Jakub Dobes at 1:33 in overtime to seal the extra point for the Devils.
The loss was also Dobes’ first of the season after starting with six straight victories. He allowed four goals on 28 shots to make the goaltending competition between him and Sam Montembeault all the more unclear.
Like on Tuesday against the Flyers, Montreal gave up a goal on the first shot. This time, it was Cody Glass beat
