GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - The American Cancer Society of South Mississippi hosted their fifth annual Shuck Cancer Gulf Coast event Thursday night at the Mississippi Aquarium.
The event was filled with local restaurants serving up their best dishes.
Funds from the evening will benefit those in the community who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Heather Bradley with the American Cancer Society says this helps alleviate the stress of finding a place to stay and paying for treatment, allowing patients to focus only on healing.
“The money is for transportation and lodging grants. So if someone has to go 50 miles or more, we’re stepping up and making sure they have access to that,” Heather Bradley said. “We partner with area hospitals like Singing River and Coastal Healthcare. So, we’ve got so
