DALLAS — iPhone users and commuters across Dallas were scratching their heads Thursday as their phone's navigation systems calculated routes to avoid the Dallas Marathon.

One problem: the Dallas Marathon is over a month away.

On Thursday, Apple Maps calculated longer routes for users, avoiding the planned route for the marathon. WFAA put it to the test, planning a route Thursday night to Klyde Warren Park from our station in Downtown Dallas. Though the fastest drive would be six minutes, Apple Maps suggested using an eight-minute route with a note under it reading "Avoids Dallas Marathon."

We tried the same test in Waze and Google Maps, and both suggested the faster six-minute route.
